History
The history of the Festival started in 1992 when the competition of advertising video clips took place at Moscow President Hotel. The ideologist of the Festival was Vladimir Ananich the president of the Foundation for advertisers. The following 3 competitions were protected by this Foundation.
For the fourth competition which took place November 1994 was granted the status of the Festival. The Foundation for advertisers was held within it. There was established “Advertising poster” competition. Russian Association of Communication Agencies started the cooperation with the Festival. In 1995 the Festival received international status. The common Advertising Council joined it and competition “Advertising model of the year” was established.
VI The Festival introduced a lot of news. Its venue moved to Krasnya Presnya centre. The president of the Festival has changed and it’s still Igor Yankovski. The permanent directorate started the work. “Radio advertising” competition was established. For the first time entries were estimated by professional judges from the leading Russian and foreign advertising agencies.
VII The foreign advertisers took place in the Festival for the first time. There were a lot of new competitions established: competition “Young creators”, competition “Advertising photo” and competition “Print advertising – printing embodiment”.
VIII For the first time was used internet. At the web site it was easily to find information about the judges, program of the festival and news about steering committee.
XIX The United formulary and works estimation were developed by advertising agency Young&Rubicam. The common number of competitions were unchanged, but “Advertising photo of the year” and “Advertising image of the year” was removed instead of them was established “Label&Packaging” and “Internet Advertising” competitions.
XX The Festival became the significant event of the year. For the first time during the Festival Advertising conference took place. Presentation of “Red Book of advertising” became the important occasion at the end of the year.
XI In 2001 at the internet was established alternative competition of printed advertising “Glasnost” were everybody was able to see the whole list of participants and vote for the best printed advertising.
2007 The beginning of new age in the history of the Festival. The Red Apple title was recieved. The number of competitions enlarged. More than 600 ATL and BTL agencies, printing offices, PR companies and productions took part in the Festival. There were provided more than 2000 entries from 35 countries. More than 70 arrangements, conferences, seminars, master – classes and presentations were held during the Festival.
The following years the Festival was permanently changing staying abide to for itself and participants. International jury of the Festival stays unchanged. There were added new competitions: “Substandard advertising vehicles”, “Graphic design”, “Advertising campaign”, “Promo campaign” and “Media projects”. In 2009 the Festival had converted into Moscow International Advertising Festival gathered two basic compounds of advertising market: advertising agencies and advertisers.
In 2010 the Festival celebrated the twentieth anniversary. Absolutely new Red Apple MIXX 2010 and the tenth Moscow Social Advertising Festival were held within the classic Red Apple. The main judge became Jean- Remy von Matt the director of Jung von Matt Agency.
Red Apple MIXX appealed to unite all novelties in the digital communications area.
